Beginnings (A Retrospective Essay on Cookin' with Carol - from Cooking Clips & Tips Volume 2, Issue 1) If a saucepan could talk, it was singing that day. As the chorus of omelette pans, sauté pans, and stockpots joined in, it was becoming obvious that she was the only one to hear this marvelous symphony reverberating from within the depths of those cold, dark inanimate objects of kitchen origin. The lyrics were not exactly clear, however, the sweet melody was an unending refrain that would repeat itself over and over again as hot flames and delectable foods soon joined in to orchestrate magnificent compositions. Eventually the world would learn, note by note, the many precious songs this haunting melody would become---exciting songs, caroled in many venues today. Fascinating songs that continue to rewrite themselves as quickly as that first, stirring chorus rang out from those lifeless, yet vibrant, masses of metal so many years ago. (To be continued...) |
